Christy BrennandHi. I’m Christy Brennand, a.k.a. The Whole Chef.

I began my journey of culinary consciousness over a decade ago, when I learned how to cook. Yes, it’s true. I managed to grow up, go to college, fall in love and settle down without ever knowing how to cook. Sure, I could follow a few recipes and put food on the table, but there was very little joy in my kitchen. Preparing meals was a chore, not a choice.

But that was then. Sometime during my early adulthood, I began to realize that food is a very powerful thing. As an athlete, I learned how food can differentiate winners from losers. As a professional, working 40+ hours per week and trying to find balance, I learned how food can be abused, and how it can be addictive. And eventually, I discovered how food can be a powerful healer, as well as a source of immeasurable pleasure.

Over the years, I’ve studied with many talented chefs, teachers, and healers. I graduated from the Professional Chef program at the School of Natural Cookery, where I first discovered that learning fundamental cooking methods is the key to being able to prepare deliciously healthy foods. I have a Bachelor’s Degree in Holistic Nutrition and am in the process of completing a Master’s Degree in the same field from Clayton College of Natural Health.

I have spent the last decade discovering the power of real food— foods that heal us when we are sick, foods that make us stronger and build immunity, foods that give us abundant energy and help us lose weight. I have learned how to distinguish fact from fiction and have pledged to be part of a growing community of people who care about where our food comes from. I am passionate about sharing what I have learned and offer an eclectic array of knowledge and skills to anyone who wants to transform the quality of their life and ensure a better world for our children.

This Delicious Journey is a place for people who want to live healthier lives, celebrate the magnificence of food, learn simple and healthy ways that food can be prepared, and join in what I call the Real Food Revolution to help influence public policy and create positive changes in the world. Above all, this site is a virtual dining room table designed to bring together people who are making a difference by making conscious choices about the foods they eat.

I am not alone in my desire to create positive change and so as I journey forward with my mission to bring awareness and education to all the dinner tables across America, I will invite many amazing people to our table. My invitation extends to business owners who believe their companies have an obligation to be socially responsible, entrepreneurs who create products using natural, sustainable, health-supportive ingredients, and to farmers and ranchers who understand how important our food system is and won’t sell out to the corporate conglomerate.

If you choose to take this journey with me, we will break bread with teachers, healers, chefs, entrepreneurs, and many others who strive to be part of the solution, not part of the problem.

As every American dinner table should be, ours will be a place of conversation, laughter, debate, creativity, sharing, discovery, support, and of course, good food that nourishes us every day of this delicious journey.
